Launch PAD Festival - Peace Child 2020 Concerts
Heathfield Community School present...
Peace Child 2020 Concerts
Two concerts presented by the Heathfield Community School Music Department to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the musical Peace Child.
In 1990, young people from 24 nations across the world converged on Heathfield to rehearse this ground-breaking show; leading to performances in Taunton and on London’s West End!
The two evenings will be full of music from the original show and more recent songs composed by Musical Director Julian Breeze, linking the hopes and aspirations that today’s children have for the future of the planet with the message of the original show. The Heathfield choirs and a Performing Arts group are involved, together with students from the SPACE and also Creech St. Michael, Ruishton, North Curry and Stoke St. Gregory primary schools. They will be accompanied by a large orchestra and also joined by members of the original production!
As well as the songs, there will be video clips, poems, reflections and recollections to put the music in context.
Launch PAD is an annual festival of shows and performances throughout the academic year by students of Heathfield Community School that encompasses theatre, dance, musical theatre and music productions. The school and Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre’s shared vision, to be a centre of excellence in the Performing Arts in Education, is rooted in the belief that exposure to the performing arts influences the development of young people in a positive and meaningful way; raising self-esteem and confidence and helping young people achieve their full potential.
