About the Performers
Wellington Silver Band
The origin of Wellington Silver Band can be found as far back as 1860 when it was called the Wellington Rifle Corps Band, and attached to the 8th Somerset Rifles. In 1887 the Wellington Town Band was formed with musicians from all around the area. A new set of instruments were purchased (for £70 including music stands). Their first open air concert was performed outside of the Squirrel Hotel. They have continued to entertain the citizens of Wellington and the surrounding area over the years that have followed and go from strength to strength.
The Wyndham Singers
The Wyndham Singers are 22 years old this year and are delighted to renew their concert partnership with Wellington Silver Band to raise much-needed funds for MIND. Their joyful sound covers a wide range of songs from love songs and ballads to sacred songs, and from shanty-style to musicals.
Emily Vernon
Emily Vernon is a music scholar at Taunton School where she attended since the age of 2. She is a keen musician, playing flute and trumpet in ensembles as well as singing. Emily has been part of the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain and has been fortunate enough to sing in spectacular venues such as Saint Marks Brasilica in Venice.
