Tacchi-Morris Comedy Special
The first event was such a success that we’ve signed on for a sequel! That’s right, the Tacchi-Morris Comedy Special is returning with an all new cast of comedians and a primetime Saturday evening timeslot. And the best bit? You needn’t have seen the first one to enjoy this evening of laughter and fun!
What can you expect? A night full of laughter, fun and mirth! There’ll be an amazing MC that will feature throughout the evening, interacting with the audience and generally making sure everyone is having a good time.
The MC will also introduce your three acts. Whilst the lineup is subject to change, you are guaranteed a great night, with three wonderful comedians each performing their best material, with the night being capped off by your amazing headliner. MC – Tom Glover
Loveable West Country favourite Tom Glover is a highly sought-after act and MC, capable of bringing laughter to any room. Tom combines tales of fatherhood and country living with hilarious observational routines on daily life.
In recent times Tom also finished runner up in the prestigious Lastminute Comedy Club Comedian of the Year and reached the finals of the Inaugural Petfringe Comedian of the Year.
His infectious personality and playful approach make him an instant hit with audiences, however Tom is perhaps best known for his excellent crowd work and quick wit that have earned him a number of regular compere roles at major venues across the South West. He’s had two successful runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with split shows and his debut full length solo show was nominated for Best New Show at the 2019 Leicester Comedy Festival Awards.
Opening Act – Kev Mud
In only a short amount of time, Kev Mud has been a finalist in British Comedian Of The Year, beating established acts by winning all of his heats on the way, performed his own scripts on TV alongside the likes of Josh Pugh, Ian Stone, and Sooz Kempner, performed everywhere from Glastonbury Festival to The Comedy Store, and been the subject of numerous articles in the comedy press.
Kev performs both stand up and spoken word, as he puts it ‘both are funny, but one rhymes more than the other does’, his material touches upon his varied life experiences such as; homelessness, addiction, mental health, death & religion.
Middle Act – Mark Flynn
Mark Flynn started stand-up at 50yrs old in March 2020, since then he’s gone on to beat the gongs at Top Secret, Comedy Store, Vauxhall and Up The Creek comedy clubs.
He’s also been a finalist in both the New Act of the Year (NATYS) 2022 and Old Act Of The Year 2022, as he is both new and a little bit old.
Mark is a man of few words, most of them sarcastic. Don’t ask him how he is, he will tell you. He describes his personality as “divorced” and is only doing stand up comedy to replace the attention he didn’t get as a child or as an adult. He doesn’t smile.
Headline Act – Alistair Barrie
Alistair Barrie is one of the top headliners on the international comedy circuit. A regular at London’s world-famous Comedy Store, he has performed in over 40 countries including acclaimed performances in Australia, Cape Town, Mumbai, New Zealand and the legendary Comedy Cellar in New York.
He has made countless appearances at UK music festivals including Glastonbury, Latitude, Bestival and Green Man and taken several solo shows to The Edinburgh Festival. His 2013 and 2015 shows were nominated for ‘Best Show at The Fringe’ with the latter transferring to London for a run at The Soho Theatre, and he was runner-up in the 2015 English Comedian of the Year.
After a limited run sold out in 2021, Alistair returned to Edinburgh in 2022 with the critically acclaimed ‘Alistaircratic,’ with The Herald describing him as ‘one of the UK’s sharpest comedians’.
A seasoned performer at corporate events, Alistair is the only comedian to have performed at both the Labour and Conservative Party conferences. He has also entertained international troops as far away as Afghanistan, Cyprus and the UAE.
Founded in 2013 by Trish Caller – Genius PR & Events started out as Taunton Comedy Festival with a huge marquee in the grounds of Taunton School.
Following the huge success of the first festival show, Taunton Comedy Festival became Taunton Comedy and started to book and promote shows at more and more venues across Taunton and then expanded further afield to other towns and villages in Somerset – Genius PR & Events was born!
Trish’s dream has always been to make Somerset the Edinburgh of the South – Not just once a year but top quality comedy shows across Somerset all year round.
